Using the process of community participatory design, craft and garden design, broken communities are re-woven back together and community space becomes a place of personal and community transformation.  The presenter will describe the methods used, offer case studies that illustrate the process and outcomes and discuss the origins, opportunities and challenges of the design/build model and how it will be incorporated into a project in Dals Långed in Summer 2018.

Professor Daniel Winterbottom is trained as a Fine Artist and Landscape Architecture and developed the University of Washington design/build program in 1995.  He has worked in many countries, bringing his students and team to address complex social and societal challenges.
